"Thank you so much for your session yesterday! My daughter (6 years old) saw my drawings yesterday afternoon and said they were beautiful. She is helping me color them. I’ll definitely do this with her (and on my own to relax) in the future. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!" J.C. a nurse and educator with Penn State Health

“I can put a whole bunch of broken pieces and crazy lines together and make something beautiful in the end. Things that you never thoughts would come together.” POWERful woman from 2018

“Doodling, working with watercolors and different mediums gets me out of my head. It softens my mood and makes me focus clearer.”, POWERful woman from 2017

After teaching thousands of people over the last 20+ years, I am 100% positive every human is creative. We are. Creativity does not have to be a part of your professional life (though it might be in ways you don’t realize). You don't have to call yourself an artist, or make any money from your creativity. You can be creative and still not be able to draw a straight line or stick figure. Being creative can be a hobby, a coping skill, a shared experience with loved ones, something to do while waiting in the car for your child to come out of school... it can fit into any window of time that you have. And, once you let it in, you will likely try to make more time for it.

For the last 6 years, I have been sharing my love of meditative drawing in workshops with women in recovery from addiction. It is heartwarming to read their testimonials about their experiences. If you know anyone in early recovery, then you know shame and insecurity are often at the forefront- even if they are acting arrogantly. Perfectionism goes hand in hand with addiction, especially for those with a traumatic background, too. To have something as gently creative as meditative drawing be accessed quickly and easily is very, very powerful.

However, one doesn't need to have addiction or trauma in their background to receive numerous benefits from learning how to bring lines, colors, and shapes together into a beautiful experience AND creation. With this in mind, I am adding in a monthly online meditative drawing (or other meditative art-making project) to all levels on Patreon. Patronage starts at $1 for those who identify as being in a place of intense recovery. Pick something that is good for your budget.

Everything I will share in the live sessions will use simple materials such as markers, crayons, and paper. There will be some skill building over time, but each session will be designed for absolute beginners to those who want to add a new layer to skills, or pre-existing creativity. You can join for one session, or for as many as you like. Dates & times will be determined by members and the date/time when the most people can attend. You will also receive all the other benefits of being my patron: various tutorials for creative projects including digital drawing for young ones to adults, plus behind the scenes views into my studio practices.
