A passion for creativity

My artistic life focuses on layering basic art elements (line, color, shape, texture, etc…) on paper, fabric, and other surfaces to represent personal and universally human narratives. I love using natural pigment inks, paints & dyes, simple stitches, and digital design to embed memories, stories, and human experiences into a visual artwork that has meaning for both me, the maker, and the audience.

Entwined with my personal practice is an imaginatively empathetic teaching artist practice that takes place in a variety of contexts including for individuals with Patreon memberships, and in schools, community organizations, and healthcare settings. I spent 6 beautiful and empowering years as the resident artist at POWER House, a residential facility for women in recovery in the Pittsburgh area, a program enabled by funding from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts through its regional partner, Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media. Recently, I became a full-time Fiber Arts Studio Programs teacher at the Honolulu Museum of Arts School. YAY! Find out more about my community arts practice using the Community Arts page here.

My latest studio explorations include translating my love of patterns into surface designs for textiles, nonobjective digital and made-by-hand artworks, rhythmic meditative art, and improvisational quilting. All of these processes inform each other to grow a rich and dynamic artistic practice. My work is worn by people in 33 countries, hung in public & private collections, and some will always remain in my personal sketchbooks.
